The Program

Bringing fresh food to our communities
About us

The Southwest Washington Food Hub

The Southwest Washington Food Hub is a grower-owned cooperative that provides product distribution, marketing, and administrative services to its members. The Food Hub improves producer access to markets through aggregated sales, one-stop online shopping, delivery options in participating counties, and single-point of payment across multiple farms and value-added products.

The membership fee to join the SW WA Food Hub is $100, and annual dues are $200.

Values
  • Transparent and sustainable business model that serves members, benefits our communities, and supports rural economies
  • Market opportunity for our members and access to healthy and nutritious food for our communities through shared resources and collaboration
  • Maintaining member relationships with customers and their control over pricing
  • Supporting new and beginning producers as well as established businesses
  • preserving the identity and brand of producers and value-added suppliers
  • Modeling diversity and inclusion
  • Website
  • Fresh Sheets
  • Media outreach through regional business development partners
  • Buyer newsletter and communication
  • Coordinated sales meetings with buyers
  • Buyer groups Food Hub members, staff and support team elects to target
  • Organizations that share the Food Hub’s mission/vision
  • Present to key groups that share the SW WA Food Hub’s mission/vision and/or may provide opportunity
  • Facilitated sales to large-scale buyers looking to work with larger supply. Growers with ambitions to expand to large-scale wholesale sales, may discuss this with Food Hub representatives.
SW WA Food Hub participants determine their own pricing – the price you enter in the web based sales platform is what you are paid. One of the goals of the Food Hub is to educate buyers about the true cost of food production
Producer-members may and are encouraged to sell value-added products through the Food Hub (>51% of product must be grown on the farm). SW WA Food Hub participation is available to non-member (food processor) vendors as well, and incentives are in development to encourage use of local product in processed goods. Non-member vendors are required to pay an annual membership fee but are not able to own common stock or vote.

How it works

Membership Types

Southwest Washington Food Hub is enthusiastically accepting new members. In order to participate in the hub, vendors must meet general seller eligibility requirements. Businesses interested in selling through the SW Washington Food Hub should align with the Co-op’s mission, values and principles. SW Washington Food Hub is part of a farmer-owned co-op — owned and run by and for our members. Member participation on committees and at meetings is encouraged and deeply appreciated.
